Let's add contractions to the mix, k?
Yesterday I had... hmmm... 12 or so thru out the day. Not sure if they were real or braxton hicks.. but they hurt like hell and REALLY pissed off the babies. Sydney was trying her best to find a way out thru my esophogus, and Remy was clawing at my cerclage.
no no baby girls... not time yet.

OK now I'm pissed.
Not sure if the ladies at the lab were fibbing because of my bloodpressure... but apparently I failed the 3 Hour. I passed 0, 1hr... but the 2hr & 3hr were about 15 points above what they were suppose to be.
:::::banging head:::::
yay... let's add GD to my list of fucked up pregnancy related problems.
They also moved my appointment up for tomorrow morning with a Dr instead of just a bloodpressure check. Two of my levels were elevated, but the doc was out delivering a baby and couldn't explain things.
Yay... something else to worry about.

I went for my 28 week check up today.
It's not good, people.
My bloodpressure was very high.. and there was protein in my urine. I've had some back pain in one area, and some stomach issues for the last week. also have had headaches, some problems with pressure in my abdomen.. among a few other things.
So tomorrow I go in for my 3 hour GTT... and while I'm there, they're going to test me for HELLP Syndrome and Pre-E. Loverly. He ordered about 15 tests....
I start going TWICE a week now. One for blood pressure check, and the other for a routine check up.
My uterus is measuring 36 weeks.. and I certainly feel it.
I go back on Thursday for blood pressure check...and the doc explained that if it's high again, I'll likely go straight to the hospital for bedrest for the duration.
IF the bloodwork comes back with high liver functions or any other problem... I could be sent to deliver these girls as early as the end of the week. If that's the case, they'll transfer me to Brigham and Womens in Boston where they have a level 3 NICU. They'd rather me deliver there if I go this early instead of having the babies transferred without me.
I'm scared. Shitless.

I'm hearing all sorts of things about them that I never wanted to know.
Keep in mind that my father is VERY Proper. I've never heard the man say "damn".
Today they learned that a local wal-mart would be open from noon til 4pm. So they decided to risk going. Now they've been told 100 times that their city is under Lockdown. No one IN or OUT at all until at least Mid October. There's apparently a huge grid of power stations that were destroyed and they have to be rebuilt before the city will have power again.. and the businesses will come first.
Well Mom and Dad are sticking it out at their place despite my BEGGING them to just head up here for a month or so. Blah.. they won't do it. Don't want to leave for some reason.
So they went to this Walmart. At the "checkpoint".. which is manned by the Nat'l Guard with M-16's, the guy told them.. "Ma'm we can let you out but you will NOT be allowed back into Sulphur". They decided to take their chances. Rolling Eyes
So they went to Wal-mart... and were back at the checkpoint an hour later after getting a few things that they needed.. mainly a car charger for her cell phone.
When they got back to the checkpoint, Mom looked at Dad... Dad looked at Mom... and Mom said.. "STEP ON IT, J. R.!!!".. and HE DID IT.
I'm picturing Thelma and Louise here.
They went AROUND the barricades, onto the grass... and the whole time the soldier standing there with an M-16 just shaking his head at them.
Two hours later Mom said she was SCARED to death because a Nat'l Guard truck showed up at their house and 3 soldiers got out.
She just KNEW they were going to jail.
The guys just asked if they were ok and handed them 2 cases of MRE's and a bunch of water and ice.
Let's not talk about my father standing in the backyard NAKED night before last because he was hot and felt a "breeze coming on".

26 weeks appt
So far, so good.
Miss Remy is HEAD DOWN and VERY low... as in as soon as that sucker opens up she's out of there. However.... she's the bigger of the two babies... figures, huh? She's measuring at 26 weeks 4 days... so 2 days ahead... and she weighs about 2 pounds 2 ounces. Heart Rate was 152
Her face looking right at the want.. hands up near her face :)
Miss Sydney has completely changed her position from the last ultrasound. She's still across the top of my tummy... but her head is pointing to the right now instead of to the left. She's still face up. I know EXACTLY when she moved too... about a week ago I felt a "scooting" and shift... then more scooting and another shift... and she was kicking on a different side.
She's about a week behind in growth, but the doc wasn't worried at all because her weigh wasn't too far behind at 1 pound 14 ounces. He said she just could have a smaller frame than her sister. Her heart rate was 145...and she has big feet.
The U/S tech couldn't get a picture of them... but at one point she put her foot right up the wand and I swear those were size 10's. We did get a great profile picture of her with her hand at her mouth. She was apparently hungry because she then shoved her fingers in there all at once.
 Her pucker profile pic

My cervix is still at 3.1cm which the doc was happy about.
I GAINED 1 pound. No Loss this time.
Blood pressure was good, no swelling, pee test negative for protein and sugar.
Still can't have Sex. hahahaha
I did talk to the doc about getting a tubal after the girls are here. He said they can't do it at St. Joes because it's a catholic hospital and they won't allow it, but he said he could do it at another hospital if that was what we really wanted... OR... he said he could put in a IUD at my 6 week post delivery appt. He said there's a new kind that works for 5 years and omits progesterone which stops you from having periods as well. And he said if we ever change our mind it can be removed and there's no surgery involved. I think he talked us into it.

Babies REALLY like meatball subs...
Thank God the guy at Papa Gino's has dealt with a pregnant wife before.... he was closed when I called to order and took pity on me. LOL
Now my stomach is moving around and there are's a little party going on in there. You'd THINK the food would make them tired... noooooo.. not my babies.. they get food and they have to party. I guess they ARE half cajun, afterall.

An Open Letter to America from South Louisiana
From columnist Chris Rose of The Times-Picayune www.nola.com Dear America,
I suppose we should introduce ourselves: We're South Louisiana.
We have arrived on your doorstep on short notice and we apologize for that, but we never were much for waiting around for invitations. We're not much on formalities like that.
And we might be staying around your town for a while, enrolling in your schools and looking for jobs, so we wanted to tell you a few things about us. We know you didn't ask for this and neither did we, so we're just going to have to make the best of it.
First of all, we thank you. For your money, your water, your food, your prayers, your boats and buses and the men and women of your National Guards, fire departments, hospitals and everyone else who has come to our rescue.
We're a fiercely proud and independent people, and we don't cotton much to outside interference, but we're not ashamed to accept help when we need it. And right now, we need it.
Just don't get carried away. For instance, once we get around to fishing again, don't try to tell us what kind of lures work best in your waters.
We're not going to listen. We're stubborn that way.
You probably already know that we talk funny and listen to strange music and eat things you'd probably hire an exterminator to get out of your yard.
We dance even if there's no radio. We drink at funerals. We talk too much and laugh too loud and live too large and, frankly, we're suspicious of others who don't.
But we'll try not to judge you while we're in your town.
Everybody loves their home, we know that. But we love South Louisiana with a ferocity that borders on the pathological. Sometimes we bury our dead in LSU sweatshirts.
Often we don't make sense. You may wonder why, for instance - if we could only carry one small bag of belongings with us on our journey to your state - why in God's name did we bring a pair of shrimp boots?
We can't really explain that. It is what it is.
You've probably heard that many of us stayed behind. As bad as it is, many of us cannot fathom a life outside of our border, out in that place we call Elsewhere.
The only way you could understand that is if you have been there, and so many of you have. So you realize that when you strip away all the craziness and bars and parades and music and architecture and all that hooey, really, the best thing about where we come from is us.
We are what made this place a national treasure. We're good people. And don't be afraid to ask us how to pronounce our names. It happens all the time.
When you meet us now and you look into our eyes, you will see the saddest story ever told. Our hearts are broken into a thousand pieces.
But don't pity us. We're gonna make it. We're resilient. After all, we've been rooting for the Saints for 35 years. That's got to count for something.
OK, maybe something else you should know is that we make jokes at inappropriate times.
But what the hell.
And one more thing: In our part of the country, we're used to having visitors. It's our way of life.
So when all this is over and we move back home, we will repay to you the hospitality and generosity of spirit you offer to us in this season of our despair.
That is our promise. That is our faith.

Docs appointment this afternoon.. and ultrasound. Mr. Green
Babies are doing GREAT. Both were kicking and moving about so much that the ultrasound tech kept having to move the wand to get what she needed.
Baby A is HEAD DOWN!!!!! That means that if she stays that way until delivery I'll be able to deliver vaginally. I'm sure she can still flip back up.. but with twins it's unlikely that they'll do that... usually when it starts to get crowded in there they tend to stay in their comfy positions.
Baby B is transverse and laying ACROSS my upper stomach. I told Glenn the other night she had shifted across a little because I could feel her kicking on my left side when before she was balled up on my right.
She must have known we were looking at her because she stopped kicking and immediately put her thumb in her mouth. "Time to be cute for mommy and daddy."
Cervix was thickening up to 3.2cm.. which is GREAT NEWS... means the cerclage and bedrest is working. Still a tiny bit funneled though.
My bloodpressure was normal... no swelling... and I managed to maintain my weight since the last visit.
He wants me to see a chiropractor because the babies are pressing hard against my spine now. Basically I'm carrying mostly in my back.. which is why I'm still wearing my same clothes *insert giant eye roll here* Well that and the weight loss.
I've had a little middle back pain that feels like it's thrown out.. but it's mostly at night when they're most active.
Doc said that I'm able to walk around the house more... still no lifting or bending or housework.. or sex. *sigh* Just simply walking around to stretch my legs or back out as needed.
After the doc we went to Sam's Club where I walked around for about 30 minutes then started craving an icee... LOL.. bought one then sat and waited for Glenn to be done with his shopping.
I bought the babies some board books to start their little library....
I can tell these girls already have Daddy wrapped around their little fingers... he's already looking at toys for them.. and he saw a 12 foot halloween yard frankenstein thing and was temped to get it.
Yeah THAT'S not gonna be tramatic for a couple of newborns.

HE BOUGHT NEW PILLOWS FOR THE BED.

It's been a LONG day. The doc called this morning and asked if we could be there an hour earlier. I just love this doc... he's young and handsome and SOOOO caring. His wife had IVF several times and was in the same situation as me. Pregnant with twins and on bedrest for the same exact issue. so this doc really sympathized!!!
We got there around 11 and they took us back to a labor room.
The nurse came in and asked a million questions. The anesteologist came in and asked the same questions. He explained that they would do a spinal because it's better for the babies...and it would take about 5 minutes
So the doc walked me back to the OR.... and I sat up on the table in "the position".
WARNING: IF ANYONE EVER SAYS TO YOU "This will sting a little bit" DO NOT BELIEVE THEM.
AND IF THAT PERSON FOLLOWS WITH A "a little pressure here"...RUN.... RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN TO THE NEAREST GROWNUP OR POLICE OFFICER.
The 1st stick..the numbing stuff... felt like someone was stabbing me in the spine with a hot butter knife.
The 2nd stick.... sent intense pain down my right leg.
The 3rd.... well that one felt like someone was pulling my leg off at the hip.
The 4th... more numbing meds...
The 5th... pain so intense I instantly hyperventilated... they put oxygen on me.
The 6th... well by this time... I was crying so much and hugging nurse Deb so hard HER legs were going numb.
A small break so I could "concentrate on my breathing" followed by being administered a med to lower my blood pressure.... at which point I promptly felt faint and started to sweat.
They called in the head spinal dude.... who, by the way, was a cross between Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp...wearing scrubs. (yes Lori, I asked if he was single... always thinking about you girl)
He gave me quite the back and shoulder rub to calm me down.
Stick #7... more numbing meds
#8... Doc Hottie put in an epidural line and did the spinal that way.
The surgery was fine.... very strange to feel them in there.... yet not FFEL it, KWIM. Doc Hottie gave me some sleepy meds in my IV. Love him!!
Everything went fine... they made an incision on the cervix.. pulled it tight and stitched it up... took about 30 minutes... half as long as the spinal.
I was rolled back to my room... where I waited for my legs to return... my butt was last to the party.
I'm sore.....and exhausted.

Guess who did NOT do an amnio today?
Guess who's ultrasound Tech ran out of the room to get a doctor?
Guess who's cervix was shortened and funneling and dialating?
Guess who was having contractions on the table?
Guess who's having SURGERY tomorrow to sew her cervix shut?
Guess who's on bedrest for the remainder of her pregnancy?
Guess who's thanking God that she was in the right place at the right time and at the right hospital when she went into pre-term labor?
Guess who's new goal is to GET TO 24 weeks so that her babies have a chance to survive?
Guess who's scared to death?

Something bizarre happened tonight...
(aside from me almost choking to death at Taco Bell)
We went to Lowes to pick up some things for the twin rooms upstairs.. (we're renovating, for those who didn't know that)
And as soon as Glenn got back to the car... this guy pulls up beside us. He gets out of the car.. .and I can see him waving his arms and talking to Glenn. He's there for a couple minutes.. and glenn just stands there listening while I sit in the van with my hand on the cell phone and 911 already punched in. paranoid much?
Once he leaves.. I get out of the van and ask what his problem was.. and he said the guy was going on and on about how he and his wife are from out of town visiting friends in Fitchburg (about 20 miles away)... and he got a phone call from his wife saying she was in LABOR (with TWINS) and at the hospital and he needed to get there right away...
he showed glenn his arms and swore he wasn't a druggie... and told glenn to call the hospital if he needed proof that he wasn't trying to rip us off...
Basically he needed Gas money to get to the hospital... and of course Glenn gave him $5. They guy was so appreciative. shook his hand and waved to me in the car and sped away in the right direction.
I sure hope he got there in time.
